My Life as a DOCTOR
Reflections on Burnout, Calling, and Retirement
I wrote this book because retirement hit me harder than I expected. After four decades practicing medicine, I thought I’d feel nothing but relief and freedom. Instead, I felt a strange sense of loss. This is my honest story, starting from the childhood moment that pushed me toward medicine, through the tough years of burnout and frustration, all the way to my heart attack miracle and the new purpose I found in retirement. It’s about calling, struggle, faith, and learning that life still has meaning after the career ends.
